Hi Andy here would just like to say thank you for such an informative web site. I feel its just such a shame people are now unable to visit these old stations now.

this was just what i was looking for, i am fascinated by the underground and the history with it, i really wish i could do a tour of the places. is there a part of the tube that when you are on certain trains it opens up like a big cavern almost where various tracks and trains criss cross each other, ive heard of this but cant find anything about it,im always looking out the windows.

See FAQ list about why the site isn't updated as often. I try to respond to all personal email through the contact page but not messages on the guest book, as a rule

I am writing on behalf of my 6 year old nephew, who memorised the whole central line when he was 3.

This is an excellent and useful site - do you have any more information about the history of the Central line (which is my favourite underground line)smilesmile

Great site! But are they really making aldwych into a roller coaster? (http://underground-history.co.uk/coaster.php)
The pictures don't look that real around the coaster.

Also, are there ANY tours at all on the underground, because I was born in '96 and so my favourite station (Aldwych) closed in '94.frown

Also, do any of the operational stations have old lifts (like the ones at Aldwych)?

Great website! Really told me a lot about the underground!

Thanks

Most of these questions are answered in the FAQ.
As to the rollercoaster, see the publication date...

Why arent we using the disused stations more frequently? As anyone who has been to Shunt at London Bridge can testify the moody atmosphere of spacious, dark tunnels right under central London makes a great venue for clubs, bars, restaurants, spas... etc With London real estate at such a premium why do we leave so many great characterful spaces unused?!

ps love the site big grin

How sad am I?
I am currently on holiday in sunny Corsica but getting more pleasure out of reading
your fascinating and very thoroughly cross referenced insight to the secrets I must have passed by on my many tedious Tube journeys. You will now be able to spot me with with my face pressed against a carriage window!

Fantstic commitment.
